HOH's Here!

It's finally the 31st May!
After counting down the days until the release, attempting to live in converses which are falling apart, House of Hollands collaboration with Superga has come out and we are not disappointed.

I went for the crochet mid tops, but the other designs were just as good and now i am just counting down the days until they are delivered (even longer because of the bank holidays) and i will then begin flaunting them on this blog

P.S. I will soon start posting photos of daily outfits when i finally start leaving the house because at the moment i have just been wearing palm tree shorts and a Courteeners t-shirt. How Boring!

Sunday Style Icon: Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry came to fame in the 1970s in the band Blondie.

With her two-tone bleached-blonde hair, she became a punk icon hanging out with the likes of Andy Warhol amongst others.

Sunday Style Icon: Jean Seberg

Jean Seberg was an actress most well known in the sixties.

Jean Seberg played Patricia Franchini in Jean Luc Goddard’s 'nouvelle vague' Breathless.
The sixties fashion in the film is very simple and chic.

Wearing trilby hats, stripes, flat pumps, skinny cut trousers and oversized sun glasses with an iconic 60's cat eye flick and pixie haircut, she portrays 60's fashion and style at it's best.

Sunday Style Icon: Clueless

When most people think of the 90's they probably think that the fashion is terrible. Well, most of it was, unless you look into some american film and TV with pleated skirts and crop tops.

If you look closely at things such as Clueless, My So Called Life and Sabrina the Teenage Witch you'll see that the preppy style with grunge touches looks so fashionable and relaxed. If you want to be 90's inspired you can't go wrong with velvet.

Sunday Style Icon: Bebe Zeva

Bebe Zeva is an American fashion blogger who knows how to work vintage clothing.

She shows us that you don't have to stick to one style and that you can dress differently every day.

Another thing she proves is that minimalism sucks and you should wear as much layers and jewellery as you want.

Head Over Heels in Shoes

Before:
£8 Brogues from Primark

After:
£8 brogues from Primark covered in an old charity shop skirt (obviously not the whole skirt)
Its so easy, I wanted to show a clip from when Gok Wan cover a pair of heel because he makes it so much easier than my way.
It transforms a pair of shoes which everyone wears at college. I just need the weather to change because I am so scared to wear them if theres ever a chance of rain.
If these cheap shoes ever fall apart I will cry or buy another pair of shoes and redo it, which ever is easier.

Try a Little Tenderness

I've Been watching quite a few John Hughes films lately because i am bored with serious films and last week I watch Pretty in Pink. It was so good even though the dress was so disappointing at the end.
I think the best part of the film was when duckie danced to Otis Redding - Try a Little Tenderness. They make the song so powerful. My brother has always loved Otis Redding and I didn't really see why but now I do.
I recommend watching Brat Pack films, they are so 80's but don't watch them from a fashion perspective because you will be disappointed.

Sunday Style Icon: Z Berg

Elizabeth 'Z' Berg is the lead singer of the girl band 'The Like' which i recommend.

Her music and style are very 60's and you may notice that i am in love with the sixties.

She wears the most amazing dresses which i wish i owned.
One day i will make one like hers.

Room at the Top

I thought it was time to show my workshop or whatever you would call it, I actually call it my garage but if you have an imagination you may be more creative.
This is the only time it has ever been clean, it is usually a mess but either way this is where i make my garments which I haven't done much of lately but I will start again soon.
I promise.

Sunday Style Icon: Florence Welch

I have always admired Florence Welch's style and music from the beginning of her career and even more now that she has a second album.

Not only do I love the clothes she wears but if I could have anyones hair i would choose hers, she rocks red.

Her outfits are amazing on both the stage and the street.

Moonrise Kingdom

I found out about this trailer through Style Rookie and needed to comment immediately. It is so 1960's! I think everyone can agree that the little girls clothes are the best, I wish I owned them. Also, this trailer gets more points for playing Francoise Hardy - Le Temps de l'Amour.

The Oscars

I haven't posted in a few weeks and I didn't know what to post about. It's February finally! My exams are over (for now) and my textiles coursework is complete. I don't really know what happens in February except Valentines day and Pancake day and honestly I don't care for either of them.
What I am interested in is the Ocsars which will happen...sometime... this month. Why do I care? I like the dresses on the red carpet. This led to me remembering my Prom last July where the theme wa the Oscars. This is the dress I made and wore which won me the award, "Most Original", and I am still proud of my achievement because it made people acknowledge that I make my own clothes. I still have the little plastic oscar sitting on my desk in my workshop.

Mexican Summer/ Italian Evening

Last Friday, we had mexican for dinner and why not make up a piƱata for the occasion and dress up?
I'm wearing a primark cardigan, crop top by my own make, midi skirt by my own make and a vintage belt.
I did because too attached to it and refused to destroy it though, its left over head is now in my workshop.

The next friday night was devoted to Italy and we made a moped which holds breadsticks.
Wearing a vintage t-shirt and skirt and coat is my brothers.
The only music close to being Italian was Morrissey's Ringleader of the Tormentors and we decided to pose as the picture from the inside of the sleeve.

I promise to start posting my daily outfits soon, i just need it to be a bit brighter outside.
